Phnom Penh (FN), May 29 – The General Department of Taxation authorised Wing Bank to receive tax payments from the public to facilitate taxpayers, individuals, and institutions in fulfilling their tax obligations throughout Cambodia. This service is provided by Wing Bank without any additional fees.
This service collaboration was officially inaugurated on Wednesday (May 29) at Wing Tower Bank under the chairmanship of Kong Vibol, Director General of the General Department of Taxation (GDT), and Neak Oknha Kith Meng, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Wing Bank and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Royal Group, along with the presence of many other distinguished guests.
Hor Bunthe, Deputy CEO of Wing Bank, stated, “We would like to thank the GDT for entrusting Wing Bank and allowing us to use our financial technology skills to facilitate better tax payments.”
Hor Bunthe underlined that as one of the fastest-growing digital banks in Cambodia, Wing Bank has been a reliable partner of the GDT for a long time.
The collaboration aims to assist individuals who previously had to travel long distances to the GDT by allowing them to pay their taxes at the nearest Wing Bank branch without extra charges.
With 21 branches across Cambodia, in addition to its head office located in the Wing Tower Bank building, Wing Bank offers more convenient tax payment options to the public.
Customers can now visit the nearest Wing Bank branch and bring a few required documents. Upon arrival at Wing Bank's tax and public service counters, service staff will assist customers in choosing a payment method from two options.
Customers can choose to pay in cash or deduct the amount from their Wing Bank account. They also have the option of depositing a check from their Wing Bank account for payment.
Additionally, customers can pay online using the GDT Tax Payer app, where they can pay property taxes and road taxes. Users simply open the app, go to the tax payment function, check the details, and select Wing Bank for payment.
The public will soon be able to use the GDT Tax Prefiling app and the GDT E-Filing App for tax payments.
As an important entity under the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the GDT plays a crucial role in Cambodia's economic framework by collecting tax revenue to support sustainable growth in the country.
The GDT achieved its plan by collecting USD 3.6 billion in taxes by 2023 and aims to reach USD 4.1 billion by 2024. This amount is expected to account for 11 per cent of the gross domestic product, which is projected to be USD 35 billion in 2024.
