Phnom Penh (FN), May 21 – Cambodian Foreign Minister Sok Chenda Sophea received a courtesy call by Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tăng on Monday (May 20) at the Foreign Ministry.

Foreign Minister Sok Chenda Sophea underlined the Royal Government of Cambodia's surprise over a TikTok post insulting senior Cambodian leaders in relation to the Funan Techo canal project, which has stirred negative sentiments among both the government and the Cambodian people.

On behalf of the Cambodian Government, the foreign minister requested cooperation from the Vietnamese Government in conducting investigations to identify those responsible for posting the hostile content. This collaboration aims to prevent any actions that could undermine the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the leaders and the people of both countries.

For his part, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tăng acknowledged that the dissemination of such hostile content was a negative act. He expressed agreement on the need for close cooperation between the competent authorities of both countries to identify the individuals behind these activities.
