Phnom Penh (FN), May 20 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet highlighted the importance of genocide education as a mechanism to prevent future atrocities, urging that the painful history be shared across generations.
The premier spoke on Monday (May 20) at the conference on the “Future of Cambodia Without Genocide” at the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC).
"We must continue sharing these stories across generations, even if they are painful. This is the most effective way because only those who have been through it can best describe their experience," the premier underscored.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei continued that past mistakes remind us to unite the nation and build a more inclusive society. The government has a duty to promote good governance and social justice to ensure inclusivity in the management system and national development.
