Sihanoukville (FN), May 19 – Two Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy warships docked at Sihanoukville Autonomous Port for five days to further enhance Cambodia-China friendship.
Rear Admiral of the Tactical Command Headquarter of General Secretariat of National Committee for Maritime Security told Fresh News on Sunday (May 19). The two worships namely Qi Jiguang No. 83 is a training ship, and Jinggang Shan No. 999 is a landing ship. Both worship docked from 19-23 May 2024.
Rear Admiral continued that the delegation of commanders and crews of the No.83 training ship and the No. 999 landing ship of the PLA visited the kingdom to enhance relations.
During the visit, the Chinese side paid a courtesy call on senior leaders of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and the official of Sihanoukville Province. Additionally, a party was also hosted on the ship to further enhance the friendship between the two countries. The ships will also be open to the public for visits, educational exchanges, cultural activities, and sports events.
The Rear Admiral provided technical details about the two warships. The Qi Jiguang No. 83 training ship has a payload of 9,000 tons, a length of 165.3 meters, a width of 22.2 meters, a draft of 6.8 meters, and a speed of 22 knots. The Jinggang Shan No. 999 landing ship has a payload of 25,000 tons, a length of 210 meters, a width of 28 meters, a draft of 7 meters, and a speed of 25 knots.
Chinese Chief of Mission Rear Admiral Shao Shuguang, Director General of the Da Dalia Chinese Academy of the People's Liberation Army Institute, is leading the mission.
