Phnom Penh (FN), May 19 – Cambodian Delegate Minister Jean François Tan stated that during the official visit of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet to the Republic of Korea, there were no signs of protests.

Delegate Minister Jean François Tan spoke at the press conference on Saturday night (May 19) on the outcomes of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet’s visit to the Republic of Korea from 15 to 18 May 2024.

Jean François Tan underscored, "The influence of the opposition, especially abroad, is steadily decreasing, likening it to a salt dissolving in water – a fact we must accept."

"As far as I know, there were plans for a protest, but so far, no one has turned up. I understand they intended to demonstrate on 15 May. However, the delegation arrived in Seoul, South Korea, and no protests occurred on the 16th, 17th, and 18th," delegate minister further underscored.

Delegate Minister Jean François Tan also underlined that the return of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and his delegation to Cambodia ahead of schedule was not due to fear of protests, but because the program had concluded. He asserted that, overall, the influence of the opposition party abroad is diminishing.
