(Seoul): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet advised the Cambodian Embassy in the Republic of Korea and the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training to explore the possibility of offering Khmer language classes to the significant Cambodian community living in areas where many Cambodians reside.
The premier spoke on Saturday (May 18) during his meeting with the Cambodian community in Seoul, the Republic of Korea.
"I think the embassy and the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training should explore the possibility of offering Khmer language classes to the significant Cambodian community living in areas where many Cambodians reside, particularly for citizens who have children. Please cooperate with associations if they already have locations so we can hire Khmer language teachers to give lectures on the weekends. In this regard, the children can learn the Khmer language," the premier underscored.
Samdech Thipadei mentioned that it is not difficult to find primary school teachers proficient in Khmer, and there may already be some citizens working or studying in Korea. They could assist with this initiative. Samdech Thipadei advised the Embassy and the Ministry of Labor to pilot this initiative in one or two locations first, and if it proves successful, we can consider expanding it based on the actual possibilities.
