Seoul (FN), May 18 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed optimism that the strategic partnership between Cambodia and Korea will further enhance relations and cooperation.

The premier spoke during a courtesy call by Chung Eui-yong, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP), on 17 May 2024 in Seoul, South Korea.

Taking this occasion, the chairman of the ICAPP standing committee thanked Samdech Thipadei for allowing him and his delegation to pay a courtesy call. He highly appreciated the excellent results of the cooperation between ICAPP and Cambodia and thanked Cambodia for its support and assistance, which contributed to ICAPP's success in organizing general conferences.

With the experience and success of hosting the 6th General Assembly of ICAPP in Cambodia in 2010, he strongly believed that the 12th General Assembly of ICAPP, scheduled for November 2024 in Phnom Penh, would be even more solemn and successful.

In addition, Chung Eui-yong expressed his pleasure at Samdech Thipadei's official visit to the Republic of Korea, noting that the visit, highlighted by the public presence of the First Lady of the Republic of Korea, has positively influenced the political climate in Korea.

Chung Eui-yong also congratulated the premier on his successful visit to the Republic of Korea and expressed optimism that it would further strengthen and expand bilateral relations and cooperation in various sectors, such as the economy, trade, investment, tourism, and people-to-people ties.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei expressed his pleasure to meet with the chairman of the ICAPP standing committee in the Republic of Korea and mentioned that the agreement to elevate the relations to a strategic partnership between the two countries will further develop and grow relations and cooperation in all sectors. Particularly, the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Siem Reap Provincial Administration of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Jeju Autonomous Region Administration of the Republic of Korea will further promote cooperation to promote the development of multiple sectors in the two provinces, especially promote tourism and people-to-people ties.

Premier Hun Manet thanked the Government and people of the Republic of Korea for their continued attention to the Cambodian citizens and students residing in Korea, and for their support in increasing the labour quota for Cambodia annually.

Lastly, Samdech Thipadei underlined that Cambodia will pay close attention to the organization of the 12th General Assembly of ICAPP, which will be held in Phnom Penh.
