Seoul (FN), May 17 – SM Entertainment, a renowned Korean entertainment company, expressed its desire to explore investment and entertainment business opportunities in Cambodia.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call by Park Sungjin, representative of SM Entertainment, on Friday morning (May 17) in Seoul, South Korea.
Park Sungjin briefed Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet on the company's business progress, focusing on organising various events including concerts and performances. He added that the company is currently cooperating and doing business in several countries in the ASEAN region.
Park Sungjin further stated that the company is looking for opportunities to expand its investment and business operations in additional ASEAN countries, including Cambodia.
For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed his pleasure at meeting and discussing with Park Sungjin. He welcomed the company's intention to seek business opportunities and investment in Cambodia's entertainment industry. He noted that Korean movies (K-dramas) and K-pop music are currently popular in Cambodia, especially among young people.
Premier Hun Manet also underlined that doing business or organizing events including concerts contributes to promoting cultural exchange and attracting tourism between both countries.
Samdech Thipadei also encouraged the company to cooperate with the Cambodian Embassy in the Republic of Korea and coordinate with the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts as well as the Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia to explore investment opportunities and potential in this field.

The company operates in music production, artist management, concert tours, content creation, TV and film production, distribution and licensing, and global market expansion.
In 2010, SM Entertainment hosted a Shinee concert at the National Olympic Stadium, donating USD 10,000 to the Cambodian Children’s Fund.
