Phnom Penh (FN), May. 13 – Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Cambodia Obaid Saeed Obaid Bintaresh Aldhaheri underlined that throughout his diplomatic tenure in Cambodia, he will continue to foster and extend cooperation across numerous domains, including trade, investment, infrastructure, transportation, agriculture, energy, and tourism.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call by Ambassador Obaid Saeed Obaid Bintaresh Aldhaheri on Monday morning (May. 13) at the Peace Palace.

Obaid Saeed Obaid Bintaresh Aldhaheri commended the advancements in diplomatic ties between the two countries, particularly highlighting the achievement of the Cambodia-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) as a significant milestone in enhancing collaboration.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei welcomed the presence of Obaid Saeed Obaid Bintaresh Aldhaheri and the delegation, expressing appreciation for the progress in diplomatic relations between Cambodia and the UAE, particularly noting the entry into force of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the two nations and through this agreement, Cambodia and the UAE aim to explore further opportunities for cooperation.

Samdech Thipadei underscored that investment in infrastructure, clean energy, tourism, agriculture, and technology is a priority for the Royal Government of Cambodia in fostering job growth, equity, efficiency, and sustainability for Cambodia's development, taking into account its resources and environment. In fact, in the field of clean energy, Cambodia has now achieved the use of clean energy at the rate of 62 per cent of total energy consumption, with a target to increase clean energy usage to 70 per cent by 2030, while also halting the construction of coal-powered plants in favor of renewable energy projects.

The premier further underlined the significance of tourism, with the Royal Government implementing package measures to stimulate and promote tourism. Samdech Thipadei expressed confidence that through strong cooperation between Cambodia and the UAE, tourist numbers will continue to rise.

Prime Minister Hun Manet encouraged the ambassador to maintain cooperation with Cambodian ministries and institutions, particularly in advancing collaboration between the two countries in trade, investment, tourism, and other promising sectors.
