Phnom Penh (FN), May. 8 – In April, the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) granted licenses to 21 new investment projects and 1 production expansion project with a total investment of more than USD 309 million, according to CDC’s Facebook on 7 May 2023.

The 22 investment projects are as follows:

A. Outside SEZs

1. Investment project to produce socks, gloves, scarves, hats, and indoor slippers located on National Road No. 1, Samaki village, Svay Toeur district, Svay Rieng city, Svay Rieng province, has an investment capital of approximately USD 9 million and can generate 2,000 jobs.

B. Inside SEZs

1. Expansion project for the production of tyres and watercraft located in Chilu Jian Puzhai Special Economic Zone, has an investment capital of approximately USD 105 million and can generate 542 jobs.

2. Investment project to produce mattresses located in the Manhattan Special Economic Zone, has an investment capital of approximately USD 35 million and can generate 253 jobs.

3. Aluminium processing investment project located in Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone, has an investment capital of approximately USD 60 million and can generate 237 jobs.

It should be noted that in April 2024, investment from China ranked first, contributing up to 98 per cent of the total investment.
