Phnom Penh (FN), May 2 – Cambodian Prime Minister, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet encouraged to increase manufacturing productivity, speaking on Thursday (Apr. 5) during an inauguration of Toyota assembly plant in the Royal Group Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone.

The premier underlined that Cambodia aims not to undertake full-scale aircraft production, but rather to initiate production from any stage of input. The focus lies on manufacturing specific aircraft components within Cambodia to bolster productivity in local production processes.

"In the future, our aim is to import a minimal amount and produce the majority of goods locally. With increased capacity, we envision Cambodia becoming a regional supply hub," stated Premier Hun Manet. “Cambodia's strengths lie in its production capabilities, positioning it as a significant exporter to international markets.”

Samdech Thipadei continued, “This strategic objective aligns with Cambodia's industrial development policy, and we are committed to refining and advancing it. In this sense, the Royal Government has honed several mandates, beginning with the Rectangular Strategy, and now progresses to the Pentagon Strategy, with a commitment to further advancement."

Furthermore, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet urged Toyota car assembly companies to explore potential avenues, particularly regarding the import of vehicle assembly equipment. He stressed the importance of considering the feasibility of incorporating local products and raw materials.
