Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 28 – On 27 April 2024, the ASEAN community in Phnom Penh came together in a vibrant celebration of unity and diversity at the ASEAN Bazaar 2024. Through a diverse array of activities, the event aimed at promoting greater understanding, appreciation, and solidarity among the community.
The event, which was jointly organized by all ASEAN Missions in Phnom Penh, took place at the Indonesian Embassy. The Cambodian Ministries of Commerce and Tourism also took part in this much-anticipated day of cultural delights, culinary wonders, and meaningful exchanges.
The Guest of Honour, Foreign Minister Sok Chenda Sophea highlighted during his opening remarks that the event is a testament to the enduring and productive cooperation among ASEAN member states. It also showed the various commonalities existing among us.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian Ambassador Santo Darmosumarto hoped that the bazaar would bring together staff of ASEAN Missions and their respective families. This togetherness is important, as the region overcomes the various challenges and uncertainties plaguing the world today.
There was food from all ASEAN countries, guests were also entertained by songs, dances, and even fashion shows from the region. To close the bazaar, a karaoke competition was staged, with singers from the Philippines, Thailand, and Laos winning top prizes.
In total, around 1,000 guests attended the bazaar, including members of the Cambodian media and representatives from non-ASEAN missions in Phnom Penh.
