Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 26 – Cambodia Senate President, Samdech Techo Hun Sen announced with confidence that the construction of the Funan-Techo canal is imperative for Cambodia. Despite the challenge of securing foreign investment, Cambodia is determined to seek local capital from its tycoons to realise this crucial project.
Samdech Techo spoke on Friday (Apr. 26) during his gala dinner with Cambodian Oknha Association at Garden City Hotel Phnom Penh.
On the occasion, Samdech Techo reiterated his full support for the Royal Government in mobilizing capital for investment, affirming his unwavering commitment to stand alongside them. He highlighted the immense benefits that the Funan-Techo canal project would bring to the people of Cambodia.
At the same time, Samdech Techo Hun Sen called on the Cambodian people to support the Funan Techo Canal Project.
The Funan Techo Canal Project aims to connect waterways between rivers to the sea of Cambodia, passing through Kandal, Takeo, Kampot, and Kep provinces. It is about 180 kilometres long. The project is expected to cost about USD 1.7 billion and has been studied in detail.
