Siem Reap (FN), Apr. 20 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said that the progress in the health sector will not stagnate; instead, it will persistently advance, becoming more efficient and modernised to provide better and more effective healthcare to a greater number of citizens.

The premier spoke on Saturday (Apr. 20) during an inauguration of the surgical service centre of Siem Reap Provincial Hospital.

"After negotiations, the Royal Government will over USD 170 million for local hospitals and USD 141 million for regional hospitals in the next four years, with a national budget of approximately USD 1 billion dedicated to healthcare sector," the premier underscored.

Samdech Thipadei added that these investments are crucial for ensuring the health and well-being of the population, particularly in times of crisis such as the COVID19 pandemic. The premier affirmed that despite fluctuations in other sectors, investment in healthcare and education remains a priority for the government's mandate, aiming for continuous improvement and modernisation.

On the occasion, the premier underlined the importance of healthcare investment and called for collective efforts to achieve this vital goal for the nation's prosperity and well-being.
