Siem Reap (FN), Apr. 20 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet marked the inauguration of the surgical service centre of Siem Reap Provincial Hospital as a significant milestone and a New Year's gift from the Government and people of Japan to the people of Siem Reap and Cambodia.
The premier spoke on Saturday (Apr. 20) during an inauguration of the surgical service centre of Siem Reap Provincial Hospital.
Samdech Thipadei added, "It [the inauguration] signifies a substantial advancement in healthcare services."
Samdech Thipadei expressed gratitude to the Japanese Government and the people for their consistent support towards Cambodia's healthcare sector achievements. He acknowledged, "I extend my heartfelt thanks to the Government and people of Japan, through our esteemed ambassador, for their invaluable assistance, which has made this achievement possible. Hence, we can perceive this as a new gift from the Japanese people to the Cambodian people."
Samdech Thipadei continued that this healthcare milestone brings joyous relief to millions. When an individual is cured, it brings happiness not only to them but also to their family, fostering overall community health and contributing to a robust workforce, thus advancing the nation's progress. Therefore, achievements in the healthcare sector are paramount.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Hun Manet further highlighted that the new surgical facility has the capability to perform surgeries on various brain and body organs. Additionally, the inauguration of the surgical service centre of Siem Reap Provincial Hospital, Techo Koh Thom Hospital, and Techo Santepheap Hospital holds significant historical value for Cambodia's healthcare sector. These developments are a testament to the noble initiative and long-term vision of the President of the Senate, Samdech Techo Hun Sen.
The new 4-storey surgical service centre of the Siem Reap Provincial Hospital was completed in October 2023, boasting modern equipment and purpose-built facilities. This centre was constructed under a grant aid from the Government of Japan, valued at nearly USD 20 million.
