Siem Reap (FN), Apr. 20 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said that the new surgical service centre at the Siem Reap Provincial Hospital is equipped to perform surgeries on various brain and body organs as expansion and modernisation have significantly enhanced the hospital's examination and treatment services for the people.

The premier spoke on Saturday (Apr. 20) during an inauguration of the surgical service centre of Siem Reap Provincial Hospital.

The premier added that certain medical services cannot tolerate delays, such as in the case of a stroke, where even waiting for 1 or 2 hours can pose a life-threatening risk if prolonged. "It is imperative to take preventive measures when necessary," he said.

According to Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, in addition to providing healthcare services to residents of Siem Reap and its neighbouring provinces, the Siem Reap Provincial Hospital is also equipped to treat tourists, given the city's status as a popular tourist destination.

The Siem Reap Provincial Hospital offers examination and treatment services across 10 major divisions, encompassing Medical Counselling, Emergency Department, X-ray, Surgery and Anesthesia, Intensive Care, Traumatic Injury and Orthopedic Surgery, Ear, Nose, Throat, and Facial and Jaw Surgery, Chest and Abdomen Surgery, Urology, and Neurosurgery.

The new 4-storey surgical service centre was completed in October 2023, boasting modern equipment and purpose-built facilities. This centre was constructed under a grant aid from the Government of Japan, valued at nearly USD 20 million.
