Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 19 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said that defending nation is an ongoing duty, speaking on Friday morning (Apr. 19) during an inauguration of buildings and closing 2023 training course of the National Defence University.

Capacity development, training and regularly training are necessary to further enhance the quality of human resources in the military, which is the core of the national defence capability, the premier added.

"National defence is an ongoing and essential duty, particularly for the armed forces. The core of the defence capacity is the quality of human resources in the military,” the premier underscored.

Samdech Thipadei elaborated on the three levels of soldiers in national defence: military officers, lieutenants, and soldiers. Military officers serve as key figures, acting as managers and leaders in defence operations. As managers, they are responsible for tasks such as planning, delegation, and ensuring the success of unit missions. As leaders, they guide and execute all operations.

"In order to ensure the quality and capacity of the military officers, we need to pay attention to the training of officers at all levels in terms of tactics and strategies,” Samdech Thipadei added.

On the occasion, the premier added that reforming the national defence sector is challenging but necessary.
