Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 19 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet thanked compatriots nationwide for the joyous and safe New Year celebration, speaking on Friday (Apr. 19) during an inauguration of buildings and closing 2023 training course of the National Defence University.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the national institutions, national units, sub-national units, the capital-provincial, district, municipality, Khan, village-commune, monks, the management committee, especially the armed forces, who participated in maintaining security during the traditional Khmer New Year,” the premier underlined.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also highlighted the efforts to celebrate the traditional Khmer New Year overseas, hosting events at consulates with the attendance of ambassadors and the diaspora.

The premier also expressed gratitude to the Phnom Penh Capital Hall for providing public buses, enabling approximately 70,000 people to travel to their hometowns free of charge during the holidays.
