Phnom Penh (FN), April 13 – In collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Huawei organized the inaugural National Tourism Photography Contest powered by Huawei XMAGE, running from May 2023 until 10 April 2024, under the theme "Visit Siem Reap 2024".
The primary objective of this contest was to digitally promote Cambodia's tourism destinations, leveraging new technologies to effectively attract both domestic and international tourists.
The event was graced by the presence of Mean Essarayoss, Advisor and Member of the Minister's Cabinet of the Ministry of Tourism, Lang Solina, Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Tourism, and Nancy Zhang, Chief Communication Officer of Huawei Cambodia, alongside numerous participants.
Mean Essarayoss highlighted the significant turnout, with nearly 400 candidates participating in the competition from its inception. Notably, the exquisite images garnered recognition from senior leaders, including Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Minister of Tourism Sok Soken, showcased at the Siem Reap River Festival. To date, 30 candidates have advanced to the final contest, aligning with the Ministry's tourism slogan, "Visit Siem Reap 2024".
In the final round, all candidates were tasked with capturing three distinct categories of photos – Food, Culture, and Transportation – in Phnom Penh, aiming to inspire viewers to explore Siem Reap.
All candidates duly adhered to the stipulated conditions, submitting their final works before the deadline of 5 pm on 10 April 2024. The judging process will be overseen by a panel of experts from the Ministry of Tourism, with the announcement of three winners scheduled for the contest's final day.
Nancy Zhang underlined that underlined that as a representative of Huawei, she was very excited and happy that the team and partners cooperated to make this contest smooth since the beginning until the end. She sincerely hoped that this initiative would significantly amplify the promotion of Cambodia's tourist destinations, leveraging new technologies to facilitate easier access to the latest information, thereby attracting a broader spectrum of tourists to visit Cambodia.
