Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 4 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that the Ministry of Civil Service played a crucial role in supporting the operations of all ministries, institutions, and sub-national administrations, as well as in supporting significant government reform initiatives.

The premier spoke on Thursday (Apr. 4) during the closing 2023 annual meeting of the Ministry of Civil Service at the Premier Centre Sen Sok.

Support for key government reform initiatives through the Ministry of Civil Service includes decentralization and deconcentration reforms, public financial management reforms, and reforms in priority sectors of the Royal Government such as education and health.

Samdech Thipadei underscored, "Ministry of Civil Service plays a crucial role in supporting the operations of all ministries, institutions, and sub-national administrations, as well as in supporting key government reform initiatives, including decentralization and deconcentration reform, public financial management reform, and reforms in priority sectors of the Royal Government such as education and health."

Prime Minister Hun Manet affirmed that since the establishment of the seventh mandate, the Royal Government has entrusted the Ministry of Civil Service to lead and oversee the field of public functions and public administration reform.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei underlined that the Ministry of Civil Service has achieved significant milestones. Notably, it has supported and developed the public service sector at both the national and sub-national levels including civil servants, the armed forces, contracted officers, and other personnel, as well as enhancements to the pension system for former civil servants and veterans. Additionally, the ministry has focused on capacity building, staffing, promotions, and improving the quality of public services. Furthermore, it has promoted partnerships among public service units, exemplified by the evaluation of model public service units in education and health.
