Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 3 – Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate, reflected on events from 54 years ago when, as a young man, he ventured into the forest to fight at the behest of the Late King Father Norodom Sihanouk. At the age of 32, he assumed the position of Prime Minister. Now, at the age of 72, he holds the presidency of the Senate, marking a significant milestone in his career.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen spoke on Wednesday morning (Apr. 3) during the first session of the Senate of the 5th legislature.
On that occasion, Samdech Techo conveyed a message to fellow leaders and senators, urging them to prioritise their health until the end of their term, which extends until 2030. He himself will turn 78 in 2030.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen underscored, "It is a source of satisfaction. Today, 54 years ago, I was gearing up to enter the forest in response to Late King Father Norodom Sihanouk's call, and now, having held the position of Prime Minister at 32, I find myself serving as President of the Senate at 72."
