Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 2 – Neak Oknha Kith Meng, President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and Chair of ASEAN-BAC Cambodia, stated that the vision for the Cambodia-ASEAN Business Summit 2024 is to promote regional collaboration and connectivity to make Cambodia the beating heart of ASEAN's economic engine.
Neak Oknha Kith Meng spoke on Tuesday morning (Apr. 2) during the opening of Cambodia-ASEAN Business Summit 2024 at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra.
On that occasion, Neak Oknha Kith Meng stated that the efforts have made this Business Summit a success and promoted stronger business relationships across ASEAN Countries.
Neak Oknha Kith Meng stated that the summit was organized by the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce builds upon the success of the ASEAN Business and Investment Summits hosted 3 times in Phnom Penh in 2002, 2012, and 2022.
Neak Oknha Kith Meng stated that three main agendas will be discussed at this Cambodia-ASEAN Business Summit: 1) to advance effective connectivity, 2) to champion innovation and digitization through technology, and 3) to ensure inclusive growth that leaves no one behind.
"Cambodia is the beating heart of ASEAN's economic engine and is ready to become a strategic link for trade and cooperation in the ASEAN region," Neak Oknha Kith Meng underlined.
Neak Oknha also pointed out that Cambodia has transformed itself into a compelling regional gateway due to its 1) progressive open-door approach, 2) abundant resources, 3) stable political climate, 4) forward-looking investment laws, 5) comprehensive tax incentives, and 6) extensive network of free trade agreement.
Neak Oknha Kith Meng also underscored that, "for those businesses seeking a manufacturing hub or business office to reach 2.5 billion people across ASEAN, Cambodia is the perfect place for business."
In addition, Neak Oknha Kith Meng stated that Cambodia is firmly committed to open and rules-based trade and investment, and respecting multilateral principles and international agreements.
Neak Oknha affirmed that this commitment translates into a stable and predictable business environment, backed by a government dedicated to progressing transparency, governance, and efficiency.
At the same time, Neak Oknha Kith Meng underlined that the Royal Government’s dynamic, open, and digitally-focused policies create a favourable environment for industry innovation driving investment and trade.
Neak Oknha Kith Meng stated that under the visionary leadership of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Cambodia has embarked on an ambitious journey in line with the first phase of the Pentagon Strategy. This strategy serves as a roadmap for our shared success with its five focuses including growth, employment, equity, efficiency and sustainability.
He believed that this policy will continue to ensure economic growth, create jobs, reduce poverty, strengthen governance and ensure sustainable socio-economic development. Therefore, we lay the foundation for a brighter future for our Children and move Cambodia towards becoming a middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income country by 2050.
