Hainan (FN), Mar. 29 – Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Zhao Leji expressed China's unwavering commitment to working closely with Cambodia in promoting development and addressing challenges for the benefit of both nations and two peoples.

The chairman spoke on Thursday (Mar. 28) during his meeting with Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Supreme Privy Council to the King in Hainan, China.

During the meeting, Zhao Leji thanked Samdech Techo Hun Sen for attending the 2024 Boao Forum in Boao City, Hainan Province, China. He reaffirmed China's steadfast dedication to bolstering Cambodia and fostering collaboration within the Belt and Road Framework and Diamond Cooperation Framework. The cooperative efforts encompass various sectors such as politics, manufacturing, agriculture, energy, security, people-to-people exchange, and the advancement of fish and rice corridors.

In addition, Zhao Leji unveiled plans to stimulate increased Chinese investment across multiple sectors in Cambodia, notably in infrastructure and tourism. He also briefed Samdech Techo on collaborative efforts with the kingdom to combat cybercrime. Crucially, he assured Samdech that China remains vigilant in monitoring the medical well-being of Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni and Queen Mother. Expressing contentment with Cambodia-China cooperation, particularly in fostering a community with a shared future.

Taking this occasion, Chinese senior official also congratulated the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) on the recent election victory, particularly Samdech Techo Hun Sen, who will become the President of the Senate next week. Lastly, he also extended an invitation to Samdech Techo to pay an official visit to China at any appropriate time.

For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked Zhao Leji for conveying regards from Chinese President Xi Jinping. He also thanked the Chinese side for always paying attention to the health of the Cambodian king and queen mother. Samdech Techo also highlighted the good relations between Cambodia and China.
