Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 26 – Indonesian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia, Santo Darmosumarto, today (Mar. 26) meet with the First Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia Sun Chantol.

Congratulating the CDC for its various achievements in the first few months of the Royal Government of the 7th Mandate, Ambassador Santo reiterated the Embassy’s commitment to work together in advancing both countries’ economic development. He commended the development of infrastructure projects in Cambodia, particularly those that directly lead to more efficient and effective business interactions.

This month alone, there have been two working visits involving CDC officials to Jakarta. On both occasions, the two sides exchanged experiences in investment facilitation and explored potential areas of partnership in the future.

Ambassador Santo also highlighted a number of events that the Embassy will be organizing this year to promote trade and investment cooperation, such as a health fair in Sihanoukville in June 2024. “Through this event, the growing presence of Indonesian health products and services could benefit not only the Cambodian people, but also the many Indonesians living in this country.”

In addition, the Embassy will be organizing a comprehensive solo exhibition of Indonesia, to be titled “Sousdey Indonesia”, in Phnom Penh in September 2024. And towards the end the year, in conjunction with other Indonesian Embassies in the region, the Embassy in Phnom Penh will organize an infrastructure forum in Jakarta, on the sidelines of the 39th Trade Expo Indonesia.

Appreciating these initiatives, Sun Chanthol expressed his support for any efforts to attract investment to Cambodia. He also pushed for the completion of negotiations on an MoU on investment facilitation and joint promotion.

This year, Indonesia and Cambodia celebrate the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations. The solid foundation laid by the historical connections of the two peoples have in recent times resulted in Indonesia becoming Cambodia’s 6th largest trading partner.

Indonesia-Cambodia partnership in the region is also gaining momentum as the world continues to be dogged by the post-pandemic economic uncertainties.
