Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 24 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet urged all stakeholders to jointly implement national Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) policies with transparency and effectiveness to transform challenges into opportunities, create potential from the positive evolution of key technologies, develop new technologies in the short and medium term for national development.

The premier spoke on Sunday (Mar. 24) at the opening of the 2nd National Day of Science, Technology, and Innovation at Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also highlighted Cambodia's existing STI policy and STI-related policies, including the National Science, Technology, and Innovation Policy 2020-2030, and the National Policy on Science, Technology, and Innovation 2020-2030.

"I would like to call on all stakeholders, including ministries, institutions, universities, research centres, the private sector, and civil society to jointly work to implement these strategic policies in a transparent and effective manner. Such collective efforts will transform challenges into opportunities, create potential from the positive evolution of key technologies, and develop new technologies in the short and medium term, ensuring effective and resilient development of the national economy," the premier underscored.

Premier Hun Manet outlined several key factors necessary for building an inclusive, resilient, and sustainable country as follows:

First, promote economy, trade and investment activities through foreign direct investment in high-tech areas within the framework of free trade agreements.

Second, urgently promote technology transfer through the horizontal model between enterprise and enterprise.

Third, technology transfer, knowledge priority, practical skills, re-skilling, and up-skilling.

Fourth, fostering talent mobility and digitalization within an inclusive manner.

Fifth, create supportive environment to attract talent grant.
