Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 21 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet shared six recommendations to relevant parties to further pay attention and promote education and training for Cambodian Muslims in the kingdom.
The premier spoke on Thursday evening (Mar. 21) at the 2024 Ramadan Iftar dinner in Phnom Penh.
The six recommendations are as follows:
1. All leaders of Islam and Muslims shall continue to collaborate, unite, and maintain good relations with other religious communities, both nationally and internationally, guided by the principles of racial harmonization.
2. Shall continue to lead religious work in Cambodia Muslim community through close collaboration with the Ministry of Cults and Religions and the competent authorities at all levels.
3. The competent authorities shall facilitate the construction of the schools and Surau mosque for Cambodian Muslims by strictly enforcing the notification on the construction of places of religious prayer in the villages where Cambodian Muslims reside, in accordance with the Islamic law code, which has been technically defined and implemented by the competent authorities.
4. Shall increase social activities through humanitarian work, education, development, and religious activities based on the principles of Islamic beliefs and in accordance with the Constitution.
5. Shall have confidence in the leadership of the Royal Government, which has ensured right to religious freedom in Cambodia by fostering solidarity among all religions, thereby promoting religious harmonization.
6. Shall continue national and international cooperation with the aim of raising funds and acquiring technical support for the developmental activities of the Cambodian Muslim community, while avoiding the exploitation of religion for commercial purposes and negative issues within the community.
