Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 21 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet considered that promoting the right to life of persons with disabilities is essential to ensure that all individuals with disabilities enjoy the same rights as those without disabilities.

The premier spoke on Thursday (Mar. 21) during the inaugurations of Techo Sen National Centre of Disabled Persons and the National Paralympic Committee of Cambodia in Phnom Penh.

Premier Hun Manet underscored, "Promoting the right to life of persons with disabilities is crucial to guaranteeing that they enjoy the same rights as those without disabilities, encompassing education, healthcare, justice services, and full and equitable participation in social, religious, sports, arts, and political activities without discrimination."

Enhancing and developing the physical environment, public transportation, knowledge, information, and communication in the digital era is vital for fostering the sustainable inclusion of people with disabilities. Discrimination and neglect against persons with disabilities constitute moral, spiritual, and universal misconduct, leading to a loss of unity, harmony, and trust within the community.

In this sense, strengthening the disability sector is a collective endeavor aimed at instilling hope among all individuals with disabilities to assert their rights, freedoms, and dignity, and to foster positive change in societal perceptions. It is imperative for persons with disabilities to contribute to their communities and participate in socio-economic development.
