Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 21 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet commended Cambodian para-athletes for their dedication in bringing honour to the nation, speaking on Thursday (Mar. 21) during the inaugurations of Techo Sen National Centre of Disabled Persons and the National Paralympic Committee of Cambodia in Phnom Penh.
Samdech Thipadei underscored, "I extend my deepest appreciation to the leaders, civil servants, persons with disabilities (PWDs), caregivers, and all staff of the Techo Sen National Centre of Disabled Persons and the National Paralympic Committee of Cambodia. Your unwavering commitment, diligence, and patience in fulfilling your roles and duties for our nation, our homeland, and our people, especially for our disabled citizens, are truly commendable."
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei expressed his enthusiasm for witnessing the active and full participation of PWDs in Cambodia socio-economic activities, which demonstrates their abilities and potential.
In addition, the premier underlined that PWDs are not alone, highlighting the continuous support and attention provided by Samdech Techo Hun Sen and the Royal Government.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also commended the athletes who have diligently represented the motherland by winning medals in various sports events. He reiterated the Royal Government's ongoing commitment to supporting PWDs.
At the same time, Samdech Thipadei encouraged PWDs to continue embodying the spirit of "being physically disabled, but not mentally disabled" to further enhance their capabilities.
Please be informed that the National Centre for Disabled Persons was established by the Ministry of Social Affairs, Labour, and Veterans Affairs on 10 May 1997, with the aim of providing rehabilitation services, fostering economic growth, and facilitating employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. The centre ensures that individuals with disabilities live with dignity and have equal opportunities to participate in all societal activities. The National Centre for Disabled Persons was inaugurated under the presidency of Samdech Techo Hun Sen on 5 May 1997.
