Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 20 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that presently, the coverage of clean water and toilets has increased by about 85 percentage.

The figure confirmed the improved living standards of rural residents, alongside increased economic activities aimed at raising income levels, enhancing livelihoods, and contributing to poverty reduction.

The premier spoke on Wednesday (Mar. 20) during the closing 2023 annual meeting of the Ministry of Rural Development in Phnom Penh.

Samdech Thipadei underscored, "Cambodia's rural areas are undergoing constant transformation day by day, progressing towards development and civilization in all aspects, including consumption coverage. The increase in clean water and toilets by about 85 percentage confirms the improved living standards of rural residents."

Premier Hun Manet also affirmed that the seventh-mandate Royal Government is leading the country on the right path, building upon the historical legacy of the sixth-mandate under the wise leadership of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, who steered Cambodia towards complete peace and development nationwide.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei underlined that the new Royal Government is committed to preserving peace and implementing significant reform programs to serve the national interest and address the demands and needs of the people, despite the evolving and uncertain global context.

The new government has introduced several policies for rural development aimed at narrowing the living gap between rural and urban populations. By 2023, the Ministry of Rural Development constructed over 50,000 kilometers of rural roads, covering more than 70 percentage of the country.
