Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 7 – Cambodian Prime Minister addressed the 26th Cambodian National Culture Day, held on Thursday (Mar. 7) at Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Centre.
On that occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet gave three comments on the theme "Youth for National Culture". The comments are as follow:
1. The Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts must enhance direct cooperation with the arts, encouraging and providing technical assistance to young people focusing on researching and creating new works of art, spectacle, music, film, video, and other cultural works while maintaining identity, professional ethics, and competitiveness.
2. Encourage young people to prioritize enhancing the quality, luxury, branding, and originality of products, avoiding plagiarism in all artistic endeavours, both traditional and innovative, to improve production and strengthen trust and recognition in the market.
3. Foster greater opportunities for the next generation of young professionals to engage in training, research, compilation, and dissemination of national culture, particularly in art and traditional clothing.
Samdech Thipadei underlined that while the public, especially young people, proudly embrace traditional clothing, there remains confusion and misuse regarding its form and proper usage.
This year's National Culture Day is held under the theme "Youth for National Culture," aimed at promoting awareness among all sectors about the ongoing tasks of preserving national cultural arts and the responsibilities of the youth. The event also serves to raise awareness of the risks posed by the lack of cultural and artistic boundaries globally and regionally, as well as the evolving use of new technologies in socio-economic conditions.
The establishment of the National Cultural Day commemorates the sacrifices of Cambodian ancestors, both physically and emotionally, in creating a rich and valuable national cultural identity for future generations.
Youth represents a potent driving force in supporting the growth of national culture, prompting the Royal Government to continue focusing on the theme "Youth for National Culture" in celebrating the 26th National Cultural Day.
