Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 5 – Cambodian People's Party (CPP) swept a landslide victory winning 55 seats, according to the official results of the Senate election for the fifth legislative term.

In the party’s statement accepting the election results, the CPP considered that the results indeed reflected the noble and courageous will of the Cambodian people throughout the country to maintain peace and continue to promote socio-economic development to improve their lives.

The 5th Senate Election took place on 25 February 2024 in accordance with the Constitution of Cambodia in a free, safe, secure, orderly, fair, non-violent and non-threatening political environment.

The CPP expressed its deep respect and gratitude to all voters, member of the parliaments and members of Commune / Sangkat Councils throughout the country who have gone to the polls with high responsibility as a representative elected by the people and voted overwhelmingly for the CPP.

The Cambodian People's Party highly commended the NEC for fulfilling its roles and responsibilities effectively and responsibly by adhering to an independent, neutral, impartial, transparent and fair manner to ensure a smooth voting process in accordance with the Constitution, laws, regulations, procedures and ethics for the election.

The Cambodian People's Party also highly appreciated the attention of the Royal Government, the Permanent Security Command for the election, the local authorities and the competent forces at all levels, which actively supported and ensured a smooth election process.

The ruling party also thanked all political parties, associations, non-governmental organizations, observers and national and international journalists for their careful monitoring of the election campaign, the election and the counting process.

At the same time, the party would like to expressed its sincere gratitude to our compatriots all over the country who have clearly understood the importance of the Senate election and participated in maintaining a good atmosphere before, during and after the election.

The Cambodian People's Party (CPP) is determined that the Senate of the fifth legislature, led by the CPP, headed by Samdech Techo Hun Sen, will continue its historic mission of the fourth legislature in a spirit of utmost respect to the Constitution of Cambodia to effectively fulfil all the functions of the Senate.
