Melbourne (FN), Mar. 4 – Enserv Holding Australia, has expressed interest in investing in sorghum processing in Cambodia.Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call by Chairman and Founder of Enserv Holding Tanachat Pochana on Monday (Mar. 4) in Melbourne, Australia.
During the meeting, Chairman Tanachat Pochana expressed gratitude to Samdech Thipadei for granting him and his delegation the opportunity to meet and discuss potential collaboration. He briefed Samdech Thipadei about the company's primary business activities, focusing on sorghum cultivation. The company possesses the capability to process sorghum into low-calorie, high-protein rice, and also convert it into biogas.
Tanachat Pochana also underscored that sorghum is a high-yield crop that thrives in various soil types, requiring less water compared to rice, and aids in carbon dioxide absorption from the atmosphere.
He added that by considering the potential of the agricultural sector and favourable conditions of agricultural land in Cambodia, the company intends to explore investment opportunities in sorghum processing in Cambodia for export purposes.
For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet welcomed and was pleased to meet with Tanachat Pochana. The main purpose of the seventh-mandate Royal Government of Cambodia is to increase income for the people, and the Royal Government has set out a policy to develop the agricultural sector in Cambodia through the use of modern technology to promote agriculture.
The premier also underlined that the Royal Government of Cambodia pays attention to the development of the power sector. Therefore, the use of cutting-edge technologies to generate electricity aligns with the government's policy to develop the energy sector, focusing on clean energy.
The head of the Royal Government also informed the company that Cambodia has decided to stop granting permission for the construction of new coal-fired power plants. Therefore, the development of the energy sector through advanced technologies to generate clean energy is part of Cambodia's policy to revolutionise its energy landscape.
In response to the company's investment intentions, Samdech Thipadei encouraged the company to visit Cambodia to explore investment opportunities in collaboration with relevant ministries and institutions, especially the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, through the coordination of the Council for the Development of Cambodia and the Ministry of Commerce.
