Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 22 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet briefed that countries have shifted towards reducing the recruitment of civil servants in favour of hiring contract officials, speaking on Thursday (Feb. 22) during a winning ceremony for public service providers in education and health, held at Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Centre.
"In many countries, the recruitment of civil servants, including the armed forces, has been reduced, while the recruitment of the contract officials surged. Notably, even within the military forces of the United States and Australia, certain roles have transitioned from traditional military functions to being outsourced to private companies," the premier underscored.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei advised to review the possibility of such recruitment. The premier continued that local teachers do not necessarily require full civil service status to fulfil their roles effectively. Therefore, it is essential to provide equal rights and opportunities.
By implementing this approach, experts can be recruited as contract officials for five years, allowing them to contribute their specialized skills for the benefit of the country, the premier added.
