Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 21 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet paid high attention to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) as it contributed to enhancing the national economy, speaking on Wednesday (Feb. 21) at the 2023 annual meeting of the Ministry of Industry.
"The foundation of our economy, our economic structure depends on the private sector as the core force. In particular, SMEs are the foundation of our economy," the premier underscored.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei compared SMEs to a tall building. Without a solid foundation, it cannot guarantee sustainability. In this sense, the premier said the national economy is strong due to the SMEs.
In developed countries, up to 95 percent of the companies are SMEs. Particularly, in Cambodia, Premier Hun Manet said that based on the latest data in 2018, more than 99 percent were SMEs.
