Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 19 – Cambodian Prime Minister, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet highlighted the importance of roads and bridges for people's livelihood as those are like blood vessels facilitating economic growth and accessibility for communities.

The premier spoke on Monday (Feb. 19) during a groundbreaking ceremony for Chak Angrae Krom Bridge, Phnom Penh.

Samdech Thipadei underscored, "Roads facilitate traffic reduction, providing opportunities for economic growth, much like a blood vessel nourishing vital organs."

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also recalled discussions with former World Bank representatives in Cambodia in 2002, during his tenure chairing the WTO, where he underscored the importance of road development.

Samdech Thipadei added, "Expanding roads to areas of economic growth empowers local communities to seize opportunities. By extending roads to rural areas and rice fields, people can naturally harness economic potential and establish agricultural markets."

Samdech Thipadei added that roads not only facilitate travel but also significantly benefit communities. The construction of roads and infrastructure has elevated living standards, attracting factories and essential services to local areas. With roads come access to water, electricity, and factories, which have decentralized economic activities from the capital to the provinces, not limited to garment factories. The construction of bridges is equally pivotal for enhancing connectivity and accessibility.
