Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 15 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet shared five recommendations that contribute to improving the quality of education in Cambodia, in particular, equipping human capital with digital skill, speaking on Thursday (Feb. 15) during an inauguration of the National University of Management II.
The five recommendations are as follows:
First, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports shall continue to pay more attention to the development of human capital in terms of quantity and quality in order to better meet the demands and increasing competition in the labour market, as well as socio-economic development. Particularly, in the context of competition in all aspects such as geopolitics, economy and society, as well as the rapid growth of technology, socio-economic development towards the use of technology and global transformation to increase resilience and build a strong digital socio-economic.
Second, the Ministry shall continue to promote digital education in order to contribute to building digital citizenship and increasing the capacity of students in the digital field to increase the effectiveness of digital teaching and learning as well as enhance students’ self-learning approach. In this regard, the Ministry shall cooperate with the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications to develop digital infrastructure in schools, especially schools in rural and remote areas, to promote effective and sustainable online training and encourage academic research and lifelong learning for all.
Third, higher education institutions shall continue to reform the education system and develop new curricula in line with regional and international norms, with an additional focus on technology and digital skills align with economy and social trends, demands of the labour market and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Fourth, the National University of Management and other higher education institutions need to increase cooperation with higher education institutions and national-international research institutes for joint research, experience sharing and mutual study visits to gain new knowledge, actual experience and best practices, aiming to improve the quality of education, training, and research with the exchange of scholarship students between partner universities.
Fifth, the university shall continue to develop its capacity and increase scientific research in its respective fields of expertise in order to improve the quality and effectiveness of teaching and to link theory to practice in order to transfer practical knowledge in theory, practice and best practices to students.
