Phnom Penh (FN) Jan. 27 – The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) in cooperation with the UK Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA) organized a capacity building workshop on "UK-Cambodia Partnership for Green Infrastructure: Infrastructure and Projects Authority Workshops on Effective Project Development, Funding and Financing", at Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh Hotel from the 22-26 January 2024.

This workshop was presided over by Secretary of State of the MEF Meas Soksensan, on behalf of Cambodian Minister of Economy and Finance Aun Pornmoniroth, and British Ambassador to Cambodia Dominic Williams. The workshop was participated by representatives from relevant ministries, civil servants in charge of work related to public investment projects through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mechanism, as well as representatives of the British Embassy in Cambodia.

The objective of this workshop is to share, disseminate and develop the capacity as well as raise awareness of the PPP project cycle by focusing on the development of green infrastructure projects and the Green SEZ project through the PPP mechanism, citing case studies based on the experience of the aforementioned project, in order to continue building a strong foundation to support the effective and efficient development and implementation of PPP projects in Cambodia.

In addition, the secretary of state also highlighted that this capacity building workshop is part of the Green Infrastructure Project Development Program and the experiences learnt from pilot project (Green SEZ) with technical assistance of the British Embassy in Cambodia under IPA Program, relevant to skills and knowledge on PPP mechanism.

Finally, the secretary of state expressed his deep gratitude to the participants as well as the opportunity to discuss and explore in depth the topics of each curriculum. Additionally, MEF will continue to coordinate with IPA and the British Embassy for further cooperation to support the institutional capacity development program and human resource for the PPP mechanism in Cambodia.
