Paris (FN), Jan. 19 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet paid courtesy call on French President of the National Assembly Yaël Braun-Pivet on 18 January 2024 during his official visit to France.
Yaël Braun-Pivet welcomed Samdech Thipadei’s official visit to France and appreciated Samdech Thipadei’s decision to choose France as the first country in the European continent to pay an official visit while France and Cambodia are enjoying good cooperation in all sectors.
In addition, the president of the National Assembly also expressed her satisfaction with Premier Hun Manet’s initiative to establish a regional cultural centre in Cambodia, aiming to provide French language training and promote French culture to the people in Asian countries. Cambodia has a longstanding history of relations with France and continues to be an active participant with a large French-speaking population.
For his part, Samdech Thipadei thanked the French president of the National Assembly for the warm hospitality and expressed his appreciation for the remarkable progress of relations between the two countries at all levels, especially the relationship between the executive and the legislature as well as close cooperation in the fields of education, culture, language and economy.
The premier added that the promoting of trade and investment relations is also an important agenda of his official visit besides the political and diplomatic affairs. Samdech Thipadei hoped that major French companies will continue to expand their investment in Cambodia and new French investors start to explore the potential of investing in the kingdom.
Lastly, Samdech Thipadei mentioned that as an active member of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), the comprehensive relations between the two countries will be further strengthened and enhanced.
