Davos (FN), Jan. 17 – The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) expressed confidence in the growth of Cambodia's economy under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet. The organization pledged technical support to assist Cambodia in realizing its economic plan to attain high-income status by 2050.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call by Secretary General of Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Mathias Cormann on Tuesday (Jan. 16) in Davos, Switzerland.

During the meeting, Mathias Cormann extended gratitude to Samdech Thipadei for the opportunity to engage in a courtesy call and discuss collaborative efforts. The secretary general reiterated the OECD's commitment to enhance cooperation with the Royal Government of Cambodia, emphasizing the provision of technical assistance in developing policy frameworks to align with Cambodia's vision of becoming a high-income country by 2050.

Mathias Cormann further conveyed appreciation for the Royal Government of Cambodia, specifically the seventh-mandate, commending their policies and goals in the economic and environmental domains. In this context, the secretary general expressed confidence that under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet, Cambodia will continue to progress, thrive, and realize its visionary goals.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed his satisfaction in convening the working meeting with the secretary general of the OECD, aiming to fortify and expand their ongoing collaboration.

Samdech Thipadei conveyed appreciation to the OECD for their support in reviewing policies, particularly in trade and national social protection, assisting the Royal Government of Cambodia.

On that occasion, the premier also reflected on Cambodia's journey of transformation from a post-war impoverished nation to achieving a status as a lower-middle-income country. He underlined the nation's visionary path towards becoming a prosperous, high-income country by 2050.

The OECD is a 38-member intergovernmental organization established in 1961 to promote world economic and trade progress. The organization is recognized as the most influential publisher of most economic data through publication, as well as annual evaluations and ratings of member countries.
