Paris (FN), Jan. 16 – Électricité de France (EDF) highly valued Cambodia's environmentally friendly policies, particularly promoting clean energy production. The company also intended to invest in clean, renewable energy in Cambodia.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call by Head of Strategy of Électricité de France (EDF) Makreeta Lahti on 15 January 2024 in Paris, France.

Makreeta Lahti thanked Samdech Thipadei for allowing her and the delegation to pay a courtesy call. She briefed the company’s progress in business activities.

The head of EDF also informed Samdech Thipadei that the company has already invested in the hydropower sector in Laos and is seeking investment opportunities in Cambodia's energy sector. She praised the Royal Government's policy of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and the Royal Government's focus on promoting the supply and production of renewable energy.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei welcomed Makreeta Lahti and expressed his pleasure at the company's interest in operating in Cambodia's renewable energy sector. The premier asked the company to continue cooperating with the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Electricite du Cambodge (EDC), and other stakeholders to seek investment opportunities in the renewable energy sector.

In addition, the premier also highlighted the kingdom’s investment law in favour of encouraging investment activities in this sector. Energy security is also a priority, aligning with the global trend towards achieving carbon neutrality in the future.
