Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 11 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet instructed the Ministry of Women's Affairs and relevant ministries and institutions to continue to implement programs and measures to enhance the leadership of women and girls at all levels and in all fields to ensure that everyone has equal rights and opportunities.
The premier spoke on Thursday afternoon (Jan. 11) during the closing of the 2023 annual meeting of the Ministry of Women’s Affairs at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel.
"Women and men have the full right and opportunity to have the choice and representation to contribute to an environmentally and sustainable economic and social development,” the premier added.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei also requested the Ministry of Interior to explore the feasibility of deploying women, who serve as deputy governors in the capital, provinces, districts, and communes, to a local workplace close to their families to offer convenience for them.
Premier Hun Manet also requested the Ministry of Women's Affairs to continue to lead, coordinate and cooperate with relevant ministries, institutions and partners in integrating these priorities into the development process and national policy on gender equality, particularly the Neary Rattanak strategic plan.
