Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 11 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet urged relevant ministries, institutions, and the private sector to further cooperate to strengthen and expand measures to assist female entrepreneurs.

The premier spoke on Thursday afternoon (Jan. 11) during the closing of the 2023 annual meeting of the Ministry of Women’s Affairs at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel.

"Relevant ministries, institutions, and the private sector shall further jointly cooperate to strengthen and expand measures to assist female entrepreneurs owning Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), as well as improve the financial inclusion for women and promote women's involvement in socioeconomic activities," the premier underscored.

Samdech Thipadei continued that the Royal Government will enhance citizenship in a highly civilized society with morality, equity, and inclusion, in which women are the core, by offering more opportunities for women's participation in determining the nation's fate.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei added that the Royal Government has set gender equality and women's empowerment in all sectors as a priority in the Pentagonal Strategy Phase One.

According to a research data from 2012, there were more than 500,000 entrepreneurs in Cambodia, of which more than 300,000 are owned by women, equivalent to 60 percent.
