Tokyo (FN), Jan. 11 – Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Chairman of the Supreme Privy Council of the King, received a courtesy call by Chairman of the Japan-Cambodia Parliamentary Alliance Imamura Masahiro on 10 January 2023 at New Otani Hotel Tokyo, Japan.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen offered his condolences to the Government and People of Japan for the recent massive earthquake in Ishikawa Prefecture, and a plane collided at Tokyo's Haneda airport.
Imamura Masahiro commended Samdech Techo Hun Sen for his pivotal role in establishing peace and fostering numerous achievements within the kingdom. He also highlighted the crucial role played by Samdech Techo in enhancing and expanding Cambodia-Japan bilateral relations, both in the past and for the future.
Taking this occasion, the Japanese chairman reiterated the Japan-Cambodia Parliamentary Alliance's unwavering commitment to fostering strong ties with the newly mandated Royal Government, led by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet. He expressed a steadfast determination to collaborate closely with both branches of the Cambodian legislature—the National Assembly and the Senate. Additionally, he acknowledged Samdech Techo's pivotal role in demining efforts within the kingdom and endorsed the continued engagement of the Japan-Cambodia Parliamentary Alliance in this mission, building upon the legacy of former Japanese Prime Minister Keizo Obuchi's direct contributions since 2000.
For his part, Samdech Techo thanked and appreciated the significant role and contribution of the Japan-Cambodia Parliamentary Alliance in deepening bilateral relations as well as close cooperation between the two countries in the international arena.
In addition, Samdech Techo encouraged and requested the Japanese side to continue to help Cambodia in the field of demining, significantly contributing to helping Cambodia realising the vision of "Cambodia mine-free by 2025".
