Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 10 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call by Jeffrey Sachs, Director of the Centre for Sustainable Development at Columbia University and President of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network, on Wednesday (Jan. 10) at the Peace Palace.
During the meeting, Jeffrey Sachs thanked Samdech Thipadei for taking the time to allow him and his spouse to pay a courtesy call. He conveyed his strong commitment to sharing ideas and experiences related to sustainable development, renewable energy, and the green economy with Cambodia. He will also take part as a guest speaker in a workshop on Climate Resilience and Energy Transition in Cambodia organized by the Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC) of the Office of the Council of Ministers on 11 January 2024.
In response, Samdech Thipadei warmly welcomed Jeffrey Sachs and his spouse to Cambodia and expressed gratitude for his participation as guest speakers in the workshop. Samdech Thipadei expressed confidence that this visit would offer an opportunity for senior Cambodian officials and professionals to engage in direct discussions with Jeffrey Sachs.
Finally, Samdech Thipadei wished Jeffrey Sachs and his spouse a successful and fruitful visit to Cambodia and a safe return.
