Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 9 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that the reform of the National High School Examination (BACII) eradicated a culture of intervention and fostered a culture of self-responsibility.
Samdech Thipadei highlighted that the reform was a focused effort to achieve further progress and modernisation, speaking on Tuesday (Jan. 9) during his meeting with Grade A high school students at OCIC, Phnom Penh.
“I want to emphasize that reform is not a revolution. […] Our approach in the seventh-mandate Government is to ensure the continuity of existing policies, especially the Pentagonal Strategy, which is grounded in the Rectangular Strategy. However, what we are doing is necessary reform. We have undergone numerous reforms of examination since the 1980s. When resources were scarce, and there was a lack of knowledge, we had to make adjustments to gradually modernise," Samdech Thipadei underscored.
At the same time, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underlined that he has agreed with five other ministries to conduct a civil servant recruitment process by following the clear and correct reforms.
Please be informed that the 2013-2014 academic year marked the initiation of the national high school exam reform, considered the most substantial undertaking by Hang Chuon Naron, Minister of Education, Youth, and Sports. The comprehensive reform of the examination was supported by students and parents.
