Koh Kong (FN), Jan. 8 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that immediately after gaining the National Assembly's confidence, the seventh-mandate Royal Government, led by Samdech Thipadei, announced the launch of several policies aimed at promoting economic growth and improving people's lives.

The premier presided over the inauguration of “Samdech Techo Hun Sen Koh Yor Bridge” and met with about 11,000 workers in Koh Kong province on Monday (Jan. 8).

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underscored, "The common theory regarding any newly elected government is to have a three-month honeymoon period to assess its policies and organization. However, the government of the seventh-mandate does not have that luxury. On the first day, we presented our plans before the National Assembly to seek approval. Just two days later, during the first cabinet meeting, practical actions had to be initiated to achieve tangible results."

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei underlined that in the past four months, the Royal Government has implemented various policies, particularly those related to healthcare, enhancing the living standards of farmers, and promoting tourism. These initiatives and policies align with the Pentagon Strategy-Phase I, which aims to prioritize economic growth, improved living conditions, job creation, poverty reduction, and enhanced sustainability and efficiency of labour administration.

The premier further added that in the past four months, following the issuance of recommendations to the Ministry of Labour, the ministry has undertaken significant efforts, particularly in increasing the minimum wage for garment workers, set to be implemented from January 2024 onwards.

At the same time, civil servants and contract officials have also undergone promotions starting from the second week of January.
