Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 7 – Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), stated that the CPP fully supported and commended the Royal Government's decree to designate 29 December as "Peace Day in Cambodia”.

Samdech Techo spoke on Sunday morning (Jan. 7) at the 45th Anniversary of January 7 Victory Day at Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Centre, Phnom Penh.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen underlined, “The CPP would like to congratulate and wholeheartedly support the decision of the Royal Government, as per Sub-Decree No. 01, dated 1 January 2024, which designates 29 December each year as "Peace Day in Cambodia," an official national and public holiday in the kingdom.”

Samdech Techo Hun Sen underlined, "The success and joy experienced by our Cambodian people today was born of the triumph of January 7. Without this pivotal victory, our present achievements would be non-existent. This historical truth underlines the foundation of our current success and well-being.”

Samdech Techo added that the spirit of January 7 is engraved in the conscience of all Cambodians and has become a force of national unity to build and defend the heroic homeland. This enduring spirit has propelled our nation to successive victories, fostering an unwavering commitment to triumph.

On the occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen further stated that the party represents the pure interests of the entire people and has consistently stood in solidarity with them, guiding the people to successfully overcome all obstacles and difficulties. While acknowledging that their aspirations have not yet been fully realized and that there is a long journey ahead to build the beloved homeland into a prosperous and civilized society, he stressed the importance of avoiding a return to the dark days of national disintegration, war, and genocide.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed confidence in the achievement of goals include strong national unity and commitment to ownership. In this context, he expressed confidence in the large group of young people who are growing in knowledge, morality, and fitness, working vigorously with a profound patriotic conscience as successors to ensure the future of the nation.
