Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 22 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet urged ministries, professional institutions and exporters to exert efforts in both maintaining the existing market for Cambodian goods and products, and expanding into new markets to increase the export of Cambodian goods.

The premier spoke on Friday (Dec. 22) at the closing of annual meeting of the Ministry of Commerce.

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei underlined that losing market share would have detrimental consequences for Cambodian products. Therefore, sellers should avoid market loss, which pertains to losing buyers' trust in the product due to quality issues.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underscored, "Maintaining and strengthening existing markets while expanding into new markets is easier said than done. Firstly, in terms of maintaining a market, if a country has been consistently purchasing our goods for years, it is crucial to actively preserve our brand reputation. This involves continuous efforts to uphold the quality of products and ensure reliability. Losing a market can have severe consequences, and if it happens due to issues on the seller's end, it has particularly negative implications.

Secondly, when it comes to increasing our exports, it signifies that our doors are open, but typically, we do not achieve a 100 per cent success rate. It is a step-by-step process. Therefore, by maintaining the quality, reliability, and consistency of Cambodian products, we create opportunities for further expansion.”

It should be noted that the Royal Government of Cambodia has made great efforts to find and open new markets for Cambodian goods and products.
