Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 21 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call by the Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Gao Yunlong on 20 December 2023 at the Peace Palace.
On the occasion, Gao Yunlong thanked Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet for taking the time to allow him and his delegations to pay a courtesy call. Gao Yunlong briefed Samdech Thipadei on the robust cooperation between Cambodia and China, characterized by a longstanding and enduring friendship.
Gao Yunlong pledged to further enhance collaboration between the two countries, particularly on various projects that the delegation members intend to invest in Cambodia, spanning areas including industry, education, agriculture, and more. These initiatives align with the agreements established between Samdech Thipadei and President Xi Jinping in designating 2024 as a year of people-to-people exchanges to boost tourism, trade, culture, education, and sports.
The vice chairman also commended Cambodia's development across various sectors and expressed confidence and optimism that, under Samdech Thipadei's wise leadership, Cambodia will experience greater prosperity, fostering even stronger cooperation between the two nations.
In response, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underscored that the Royal Government of Cambodia is committed to deepening cooperation with China by enhancing and expanding communication mechanisms across all fields and at all levels.
The premier reiterated that the year 2023 marks the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and China, during which collaboration between the two nations has continuously strengthened, steering them toward a shared destiny as they embark on a new journey.
Samdech Thipadei thanked the National People’s Congress, the government, and the people of China for their ongoing support for Cambodia's socio-economic development efforts, particularly in the context of combating COVID19. The premier also reiterated the unity between the leaders of both countries in designating 2024 as a year of people-to-people exchanges.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei also expressed a warm welcome to the investment projects initiated by Chinese companies and underlined that the primary objective of the Royal Government of Cambodia is to elevate the living standards of its people. To achieve this goal, the government has been actively focusing on ensuring a sustainable and conducive business environment. This involves the implementation of new policies, mechanisms, and legal frameworks designed to facilitate and offer attractive incentives to Chinese investors in Cambodia.
