Tokyo (FN), Dec. 19 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call by the President of Toyota Tsusho Corporation Ichiro Kashitani on Tuesday morning (Dec. 19) in Tokyo, Japan, on the sidelines of the ASEAN-Japan Commemorative Summit for the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation.
Ichiro Kashitani thanked Samdech Thipadei for taking the time to allow him and his delegation to pay a courtesy call. He also briefed the company's business activities and the process of setting up Toyota Assembly Plant in Cambodia, which has been in progress and will be completed by mid-2024.
During the meeting, Kashitani sought permission for Samdech Thipadei to preside over the inauguration ceremony of the forthcoming Toyota Assembly Plant.
Furthermore, Kashitani thanked the Royal Government for facilitating the company's smooth business operations and encouraged investors to increase their confidence in expanding investments in Cambodia.
For his part, Samdech Thipadei welcomed the meeting and expressed pleasure at the company's progress. Premier Hun Manet accepted the invitation to preside over the assembly plant's inauguration in 2024, noting that it coincides with the 71st anniversary of Cambodia-Japan diplomatic relations, showcasing the growth and development of relations between the two countries.
During the discussions, Samdech Thipadei conveyed his confidence that the Toyota Assembly Plant's operation would bring progress for the company, creating quality job opportunities and offering further training in automotive engineering skills for Cambodian citizens.
Additionally, Samdech Thipadei encouraged the company to explore the possibility of establishing a work experience exchange program between Cambodian and Japanese employees. This initiative aims to enhance the exchange of knowledge, professional expertise, cultural understanding, and traditions, fostering a closer relationship between the two peoples.
